EWS issues? crank but no start r56 jcw tunning kit
i have a mini cooper s 2007 with 90k miles 6 speed manual and jcw tunning kit
the car was parked for about 5 days and it took me about 2 trys to start the car early in the morning so i drive about 20 miles and out no where the cart went off so i have to pull l off and never start again (towed to home)
a mechanic with a scanner came home and He test the fuel pump, spark plugs, coils, battery and everything is ok the only thing he sees on the computer is the following codes: D904 “car access system: K-CAN line fault CAS/EWS and A0b5 which is speed sensor according to him so he told me we need to test the car key before anything else but I will have to tow the car to his place and pay him about $150 so that is about $400 just to test the key
Is there anything else I can do? Or maybe buy a brand new key from dealership (I only have 1)

Sounds like your mechanic tried to diagnose the car over the phone and thinks its the key. I would advise finding a MINI specialist and taking the car to them and just having it diagnosed. We get people call us all the time wanting their car diagnosed over the phone and with all the variables you can't know until you see it. And keys rarely go bad so that would be far from my first guess even with an EWS fault.

I did check fuses/relays under the hood and passenger side all good y also check battery voltage, hpfp, and they all good
i had a sunroof leak a month before this happen (passenger side) and i fixed and dry matts and car was find running ok till now
wondering if there is a way to check the key?

Checking the key isn't something I would know. However, since the car is locking/unlocking and cranking, it makes that hard to diagnose. Also, there is no code that is leading to EWS - Key alignment.
Since the fuse box got water in it a while back, is it possible this time is the same?
I might be going to Patterson over the weekend with the wife, I might be able to swing by if your close to that area.
