brake lights and indicators stay on ?

Here's a problem i have never seen before.

Shut car off and remove the key fob and the brake lights stay on, The indicators work and i think some other things are still staying turned on. If you start the car you have to put your foot on the brake (automatic). Once running if you take your foot off the brake the lights go out (This to me hints that its not a bad brake light switch)

Ive looked around trying to find someone who has suffered the same problem and all im coming up with is a possible failed diode in the alternator or a bad module. (i know there must be a relay or something that stays on for a set amount of time for the curtsy lights)

The alternator has a noisy bearing so im going to have to replace that but any hints of other places to look would be helpful

We had weird problems with the tail lights. Car started ok, but went ahead and replaced battery. Problem went away..
