Does arcing an o2 sensor destroy it?
I've been working on my girlfriends R53 for quite awhile (new suspension, supercharger rebuild, full cooling system, etc) and when I finally went to start her up and give her a test drive, I think I arced the 02 sensor wire on the heat shield because I am now getting the P0130 code and check engine light. There was a small plume of smoke but I think that could have been brake cleaner or whatever burning off. I'm thinking of ordering a new 02 sensor just in case because I really really want to be done with it this weekend, so I ask: is my O2 sensor ruined? or could it be as simple as moving the heat shield away from it so they aren't touching? I'm not educated at all when it comes to electrical stuff and I'd like to start learning, starting now haha.
