Mini cooper r53 belt tensioner problem

I was hoping I could get some help with my belt tensioner problem. I removed the 16mm bolt that holds the tensioner at the top to replace the belt but now that it all put back together; my belt is extremely loose and its the exact same one as the previous one. I thought I might be able to replace the belt without the tool using this method but it did not work.

Are you sure it's routed correctly? https://cdn4.pelicanparts.com/techar...mall/Pic15.JPG

the other thought I had was maybe you're trying to put the tensioner back in the wrong spot? I can't remember if there's multiple holes there or not.

I do not believe it is realistically possible to replace the tensioner and/or belt in the manner you describe. Either get the proper tool, or improvise one (which I did for the several occasions I needed it before I bought the tool.)

Oh yeah, if you're trying to do it without the belt tool I don't think that'll work. I suck at improvising, and I can't weld, so this was the easiest solution for me.

Belt tensioner problem

Ok so thank you guys for the feed back, I know it seems dumb to have tried doing it the way I described it but I was just testing it out and it failed. I did order the belt tensioner tool and will have it in a few days and also a new tensioner assembly just so that I know it's new.
