2006 MCS key fob remote replacement, car won't start - immobilizer?
Greetings. I have a 2006 MCS and the battery in the 1st OEM key fob died a long time ago. I purchased a replacement fob from eBay and programmed it, along with my 2nd existing OEM key, and both of the remotes works fine. The 2nd OEM key still starts the car. However, when I try to start the car with the 1st OEM key with the new eBay key fob circuit board the car won't start. It appears that the immobilizer is the issue.
Is the solution to pull the copper-colored immobilizer coil off of the 1st OEM key fob circuit board and glue it to the new eBay circuit board?
Pic:
1: 1st OEM key fob circuit board with dead battery. I've read that the copper part at the top right is the immobilizer - correct?
2. [PROBLEM KEY] 1st OEM key with OEM case and new eBay circuit board inside - the remote buttons unlock and lock the car. They key works to turn on the car (dash lights, etc), but when I turn to start the car nothing happens.
3. A second eBay key, fob, and circuit board for reference. [This is an EXACT duplicate - the order came with two.]
4. My 2nd OEM key. This 2nd OEM key fob remote locks and unlocks the car. The 2nd OEM key will also will start the car as expected.
5. My OEM valet key. This key will start the car just fine. (Is there an immobilizer in there?)
Any help is appreciated.
