Intermittent P0977 code mystery
Some days I feel like there needs to be another area on the forum titled "What Went Wrong with Your Mini Today?"
I saw a brief discussion about the check engine light and P0977 code from 2012, but couldn't find anything current. I have a 2009 non turbo Clubman with 95K miles on it, I've really not had a lot of problems with it until late, it needs a rear brake job (need to quit working so much) that I keep putting off, the third door wasn't working (but thanks to everyone here at NAMI, I was able to fix this by myself)!
Driving home from work Saturday the yellow check engine light came on. I drove it home, no change in the way it ran, my drive to and from is short (12 miles) but very hilly. Went to Auto Zone - code P0977 was read - diagnosed as Shift solenoid (SS) B -control circuit high. The guy at Auto Zone said it could be a number of things, from the easy - dirty transmission fluid or some type of electrical short in the solenoid to more serious transmission issues.
Sunday morning I head out to do some shopping and no more light. I had this happen to me (same code) about a year ago, it was there one day - gone the next.
Could there be some sort of short in the system, or some electronic surge to cause this?
Has anyone else experienced this?
Would appreciate any suggestions.
