2014 R60 AWDS running hot 234F
Hi,
MINI 2014 R60 AWD S 155k operating at 234F at 11,000 feet 50F. Yellow thermometer came on, shut it down, hooked up OBD. Restarted and indicator did not relight. WIfe said there was a clicking sound like an failing alternator made. We drove 100 yards, indicator came on again and operating temp was still 234. Drove farther and indicator came off by itself. Today mechanic said no codes stored, water pump pulley rubber around the pulley is missing in parts. Mechanic will replace the water pump, pulley, and "dogbone" friction wheel.
Questions:
1. Is the 234 outside normal temp range ( I thought 192 sport mode, and 220 not sport)
2. Is thermostat indicated?
3. Thoughts on just doing pump/pulley and monitor?
Thanks

I have gone up to near that temp on a hot run in the MINI on a very hot day about 229, it was like well into the 100's and very humid. The fan will kick on and if you hit the sport button or run the ac its will go back down. My guess is the pump was not getting the coolant circulated fast enough.
