R52 no crank no start
Last summer, my 2005 R52 Cooper S showed a no crank no start issue. I placed her in top gear and moved the car forward to rotate the engine a bit, to see if the flywheel position might have had something to do with the no crank issue. Nothing worked. After I pushed it into my driveway, magically, she cranked and started up right away. No issues until last week.
Last week, same problem. No crank, no start. Battery is good, and even with a jump, no crank. I've checked all fuses and relays and all seem OK. I've looked into the clutch switch, but I can hear a faint click as I push the clutch pedal down with the key engaged so this appears to be working.
Any suggestions? I've read about a control box located in the passenger seat kick plate area, but have not investigated there.
Is there any safe procedure to attempt to jump the terminals on the starter to see if the starter motor will engage? My guess is that the starter motor is good since it worked perfectly before this event.
All suggestions are very appreciated!
Thanks!
