Crack in valve cover gasket ? 2011 mcs

Inhave a 2011 mini cooper s Crack in pvc valve area, I'm wondering two things one how does this crack and two do I need to buy a entire valve cover gasket or can I replace just the pvc valve ?

Yes - BTW - Any kind of epoxy or resin works well in a low temp, low load situation. Permitex, Loctite, JB Weld all offer quality products. Pics would help.

Yep, need more pics, have not seen anyone report that they sealed it and it worked. But I guess it depends where it is at.
