I know where K19 is SUPPOSED to be, but...

Hi all:

Yes, this is another question about troubleshooting the AC compressor, but I promise I have looked around on the internets A LOT already. Hopefully, you can just send me a like to the post/thread I missed, and all will be good.
  • 2008 (sticker says June 2008) R56S N14
  • Just replaced the hose that was broken (bottom of refrigerant service port hose was busted, which must have been the reason the AC compressor wasn't kicking on, right?)
  • Installed new desiccant
  • All set to refill the refrigerant!
  • AC compressor still not kicking on... BOO!
  • No 12VDC at compressor connector
  • Compressor solenoid DOES kick on with an external 12VDC supply
  • Pretty sure the AC pressure sensor is okay, but since the lines are empty and the compressor isn't compressing, I'm not sure it actually matters at this point, right? Attempted to jumper it out to no avail
  • Trying to trace back why the compressor solenoid isn't getting power, and now we arrive at the mysterious K19! It's supposed to be located on the inside of the junction box fuse and relay panel... but there seems to be an RL11 in its place (see photo)
  • There are some places on the internets that show K19 is in the engine compartment, but I don't think I have that either...
Am I in some sort of middle-model-year-component-change vortex or something? Is this a chicken and egg thing where the compressor won't kick on because the pressure is too low because the compressor won't kick on?

Halp!

This is the junction box fuse and relay panel... does it actually have K19 on it?

I think the answer is yes, since connector X11007 is right there, and the white wire on pin #9 goes to the compressor, so, yeah.

I'll keep digging!

Well, I guess I was stuck in that chicken-egg place. I hooked up the AC compressor solenoid to a separate 12VDC supply, which engaged the solenoid and started turning the compressor. Added refrigerant, and things seemed to align. Was able to plug the compressor to its normal connection and, low and behold, it was still engaged! Lots of cool air coming out of the vents now.

Unless it was something else. We shall see!

Take a look in this thread: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...eg-on-r56.html. It does appear to be RL11.

Thanks, that is exactly the thread! To my chagrin, I had looked at it early on in this troubleshooting process, but I didn't know what I didn't know at the time.
