My torque wrench failed me, or I failed it, we have yet to work this out, but I now have a situation that I believe is going to end in my purchasing another oil pan. Figured I'd check in here before putting in that order; am I right in assuming that this is likely a future belt/pulley explosion waiting to happen?
Could send this picture to your favorite welder, but these things are cheap enough used or even new, certainly can't be more than a TIG job. Either way you're pulling the pan.

The irony is this one is brand-new. I had to buy it because my oil drain plug on the original was stuck. Guess I'll go back to ECS and order up #2!
Seems like a flawed OEM design with those twin padeyes that just beg for a shear failure. Add in a casting imperfection by the aftermarketer, and you're playing a guessing game as to how much torque you should really apply. Wonder if others have seen this on other aftermarket pans...
