03 Mini Cooper Shift Problem
I have a manual 2003 Mini Cooper base model that started getting stuck in gear. A little lube on the shift cables helped me get it back into neutral, but now its making a bad noise and then making noises and sometimes stalling when I get off the clutch in neutral (see videos). Some research revealed that the throw out bearings were made out of plastic for this car, so it sounds like I may need to replace mine. Does that sound right, or is there something else that may be causing the problems I am seeing like the shifter cables? Thanks in advance for the help!!!

Looks in the first vid like you still have some binding- I lubed up the cables, then also under and around the shifter weight. It looks like this is before you lubed yours because mine has grease everywhere. This helped a lot. When I got my car it would bind in 1st second and third. I also sprayed some silicone grease (or something like wd40 that expels water) inside the cable sheath).
I have never experienced the 2nd problem , but it does sound like it could be a throwout bearing issue. I had a subaru that grenaded the TOB and that sort of tinging/ high pitched sound is how it got toward the end. I know these cars also had issues with flywheel glazing causing chewbaca noises. Might also check the clutch slave behind front bumper, mine looked like it had been replaced, but I hear they go often.
