yes, you can only buy the entire trim piece
it comes either primed / unpainted or chrome. It IS possible to take the old one off, separate the colored cover piece and swap with the new (dealer did this when mine was replaced under warranty.
Folks HAVE just glued a hunk of old inner tube rubber over the worn piece if the button still works correctly. When I discovered ours was damaged like this I asked Mrs (her daily driver) why she had not told me so I could fix .... she did not know there WAS a button .... always used the FOB!

easy to replace ... 4 torx screws as I recall, and undo the electric connector

1. I wish they would have done the part differently to replace.
2. I wish I had noticed it sooner. It's actually not that obvious.
