Am I crazy to think this?

Sorry in advance for a long post just to ask a question
SO about 2 months ago I was driving from San Diego to Las Vegas in my 2012 Clubbie JCW. I love this car. While driving it was about 50 deg F outside. About half way there, I noticed that my AFR was a little hight. I use OBD2 Fusion and a BT dongle to monitor the engine. About 2 minutes later, my fuel pressure dropped from the mid 1500s to about 600 then POP...I was down a cylinder.

This is what was replaced:
Valve job 2 burnt exhaust valves. Replaced them allNew valve seals and guidesTiming chainVANOS sensorVANOS intake cam gearHead gasketAll new injectorsValve coverTurbo feed line and oil cooler/oil filter housing gasketVacuum pump
NOw I know that a lot of that wasn't required to fix the head/valve situation but ......whole I'm on there on a car with 110k....you know how it goes. Got it all back together then took it to MINI to get the HPFP replaced as it was obviously bad.

Could the HPFP going bad have caused the damage and if so does anyone have experience getting MINI/BMW to pay for "supplemental damage"

BTW...car runs great now!

I would think you would need to prove to them that the fuel pump caused the issue, otherwise SOL
