No crank and foot error icon?
Last night my 2009 Clubman S with 6-speed would not start when coming home from work. There is no cranking at all, although the battery and electronics are fine. I can get the dash to turn on, and could pull codes. Nothing came up that would explain the no-crank. While fiddling with the car in the dark parking lot, I briefly got an icon for a foot on a pedal, but I only saw it once and can't find the icon in any online searches.
Could this icon be for the clutch safety switch? Or is there another common problem that could lead to this problem? I've heard the starter could be the cause, but I've always heard dying starters at least try to crank, and in fact replaced this starter 4 months ago.
Thanks for any thoughts.

Yes, it sounds like the clutch interlock. It's a magnetic switch on the side of the master cylinder, the blue/black wire is the one that sends a signal to the CAS which determines if the engine is allowed to start.
If the switch isn't defective then perhaps the magnet inside the MC is dislodged and not triggering the switch.
If you have a good scan tool you can connect to the CAS and see if it's getting a signal when you push in the clutch. Otherwise, you might have to back-probe the connector on the switch while it's still attached and the ignition is switched on to measure the signals (no easy task given its location and the fact that you'll need 3 hands to do it).
