New R56 Manual hatchback Owner First Car Ever
i bought this car almost a year ago now and have already had it mechanically fixed up. but as far as i can tell im having some electrical issues for example according to the manual im supposed to have the alarm package in this vehicle because it had an LED on my tachometer yet it doesnt light up or really do anything. my car had the passenger airbag issue that my dad and i tried fixing but didnt work. ive also got my sunroof stuck open somehow something is making the gears grind (new car owner so i made the mistake of opening the sunroof while messing around with the controls in the winter). my car doesnt make any real audible noise when unlocking i tried looking for the setting according to the R56 manual from MINI and it wasnt there only lights
the exact car is an 07 MIni Cooper S 6 speed Manual
any help on these issues will be greatly appreciated

the LED on top the tach is standard on all the r series minis (i think for cost), whether they had the alarm package or not. if the car wasn't spec'd with the alarm pack, the LED stays off. Since it seems like your car does not have the alarm package, the door lock/unlock will only flash the blinkers, and if you're close enough, you can hear the actuation of the motor/mech.
the sunroof, sounds like there may be some debris stuck somewhere, can you see anything with a flashlight and mirror from the inside of the mini?
not sure about the passenger airbag issue (someone else might chime in), but any more info u can provide, was it an error message or something else?

ok well that solves one problem.
as for the sunroof my dad who is an engineer said it sounds like the motor is grinding (as it does make a loud noise) when we try to close or open it i was trying to locate the manual open/close thing from the manual and couldnt find a way in. and it looks like theres a lot of small debris but nothing that should keep it from opening or closing.
as for the passenger airbag we found a bypass thats supposed to go under the passenger side seat and my dad hooked it up and its not working properly. and far as i can tell the passenger side airbag will not turn on. we will prob call a local mini specialist to take a look for us. as well as the no seatbelt sign on the instrument panel is always on even though we are always buckled.

@lucksmybeach:
You can check with your Mini's VIN whether it came with the alarm system or not from the factory. Search for BMW VIN decoder, there's several out there.
