Engine Slow To Start

Engine Slow To Start
Hi,
I've had my mini (2003 R53 Cooper S) for a week now and every time I crank the engine, it's a bit slow to start. It'll turn over 3 or 4 times before firing up.
I've tried pressing the accelerator when starting but this does nothing which would make me think its not fuel related. There is no performance issues when on the move either.
I'm thinking its not the battery as surely it would get worse/better depending on how far i'd travelled? Anyhow, It was also recently tested and its good.
Spark plugs were also replaced and did not alleviate the problem.
I'm just wondering why it struggles to start and whats the next order of items to check?
Thanks

MINI accelerator pedals are "drive by wire" so that is no indication that your problem isn't fuel related. It could be a clogged fuel filter or a failing fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator. On the other hand, it could be electrical. Best to clean battery terminals, check your ground strap in the engine compartment. Also, clean the terminals on the ignition coil. They're infamous for being corroded, especially #3. You may need new plug wires, too.
