Error Code 287F: HPFP replacement or High Pressure Control Valve?
Hey y'all! Quick question here on my 2010 R57, n14 engine. I'm running the code listed above. My question is, does this point to a HPFP replacement or a valve replacement? Sympton wise, on cold starts she goes into limp mode and sputters a bit on acceleration. Extended idling results in a smokey exhaust ( blueish tint.) Slight oil loss as well . After clearing the codes, everything runs fine, but reappears on cold starts. The code reads exact as " 287F High Pressure System." I basically want to double check to see if anyone has ever ran this code and found a solution before going all in on a new HPFP all together, as it appears it could just be a valve issue. Thanks in advance!

I've seen that code on my early N18 engine with similar HPFP. It is a head scratcher, as code 287F is "Fuel Rail Pressure Pressure-Rate-Controlled, Maximum Pressure Exceeded". I've seen that code on my engine, cleared it, and then the car runs fine for months after. I've also seen 2BE9 "Pressure too low in high pressure system" code, and same thing, cleared and runs fine after. I believe both are related to the HPFP, but mine has been intermittent enough to not believe anything.
I would say in your case, clear it, and if it keep coming back, get a new HPFP.
