R56 (non-s) misfires and running very rough
Hello, My son has a 2013 Mini Cooper with about 83K miles. He was on his way home from college last night and the car started running very rough and lost most of it's power and the check engine light started flashing. He pulled over to the exit ramp and the had to stop due to traffic. When he stopped the car the engine died. He was able to get it started back up and was able to limp off the expressway and to a parking lot. I had the car towed home and took a look at it this morning. It will crank and idle but it is very rough. I am getting a pretty consistent misfire on cylinder 1. If I clear the code it returns withing 15 - 30 seconds. I will sometimes show a misfire code for cylinder 2. Last night is was showing a random misfire code but that has not returned with the car just idling. This car had the coil packs replaced under warranty right before it hit 60K miles.
I was hoping that it was the coil packs going bad but I had my doubts since they do not have many miles on them, and I was also getting misfires in multiple cylinders at that same time. I swapped the coils packs around this morning, and it did not change anything. I am still getting the misfire in cylinder 1. And no errors on 3 or 4.
I do see some oil in the bolt well in-between cylinders 1 and 2 (the cylinders on the passenger side in the US). I do not see any oil inside the tubes for the coil packs. I cannot remove the spark plugs yet because I do not have a 12-point 14mm but It will be delivered tomorrow. At this point I suspect that I may have a bad valve cover gasket. Could this be causing my misfire problem? I am hoping it is not a fuel pump issue but my code reader cannot read the fuel pressure so I cannot rule that out either. With this being my son's car I am do not spend a lot of time with it so any advice would be appreciated.
I have attached to pictures to show what I am seeing.

To be honest I do not remember if they replaced the plugs as well as the coils as it was years ago. I have new plugs on the way as well. I just did not think I would have 2 plugs fail at the same time that is why I was looking elsewhere. The car was not experiencing any issues at all until this happened last night when it was reporting misfires in multiple cylinders.

My son told me he topped off his oil level about a week or two ago. I wonder if the small amount of oil I see around that bolt hole is just some spillage from adding oil? Any other things I can check or do I need to wait until I can get the spark plugs out and look at their condition?
I just took it out for a drive and found out it shakes and stumbles pretty bad below 3000 RPM. Once it gets to 3000 RPMS is seems to smooth out quite a bit and pulls pretty well. Once the RPMs drop below 3K it instantly starts missing again. After the drive it is showing P0300, P0301, P0302 errors.
