Check Engine Light question

My '03 Cooper has the check engine light on. We ran an OBDII test to get the fault codes and got the following codes with thier accompanying definitions from the Bently Service manual:

P0445 - Evaporate Emission System Purge Control Valve Circuit Shorted

P0031 - HO2S Heater Control Circuit Low (Bank 1 Sensor 1)

P0037 - HO2S Heater Control Circuit Low (Bank 1 Sensor 2)

P0340 - Camshaft Position Sensor 'A' Circuit (Bank 1 or single sensor)

Can anyone tell me what these mean? Thanks in advance.

Multiple codes sometimes indicate a computer problem. The first thing that should be done is to reset and then drive the car and watch for the light to come on again. Then check codes again.

Use the warranty.
You will need to test each item listed.

Dave

Ps. Did use a scan tool to reset?

Don't know what was used. A friend in my local club has a laptop with a diagnosis software and it will reset the codes. Warranty is out.

Check the round connector that is near your driver's side headlamp. Several important connections, including the O2 sensors go through there. With the engine off, undo that connector, clean the terminals, reconnect. Clear faults and see if they come back. Also, check the connectors on the ECU itself. Check for fraying or insulation missing on any of the cables.

I am not sure about PC based scans. I would suggest using a professional scan tool. Some parts stores will do this for you free.

P0456

Yo guys, I have an error code of P0456 twice. I checked the error and it was evaporative emissions systems leak...very small, any idea on how to fix it?

Thanks!
