What is this between the two Coolant Hoses?

I am getting ready to install a water temp sensor. Can someone tell me what this is between the two coolant hoses. It looks like a good place to install a T adaptor for the temp sensor. This is on a 2004 MCS. Does anyone know where the factory water temp sensor is installed?

Its a bleed valve. Even though the coolant reservoir is higher than the engine & radiator there will be a pocket of air there. Air gets caught there when you change the coolant. So. when replacing coolant, fill coolant res.,unscrew valve a couple of flats, whenthe bubbles are replaced with dribbling coolant, close, top off coolant at res. (I'm not quoting anything on the procedure so anyone correct me if the car needs to be running when this is done)

Hey I had a thought, why not look it up in the bible. Unscrew "it" before draining or filling. Also when filling, ignition on, heater control- low fan high heat. Also good to drain block (plug probably behind exhaust)

The temp sensor is on the head next to the thermostat housing. Do not ditch the sensor because, aside from operating the gage, it feeds info.via the control module to the radiator fan, fuel management & ignition timing.

Don't go there. Read previous post. The sensor screws into the head. Moving it out into a threaded "T" would give you false data. If they saw that at the dealership they would probably push your car out in the street and tell you to come pick it up. Your original idea would be better. Buy an inline hose adapter for temp gages. Better yet use the search engine here on NAM. I'm sure you will find a how to as opposed to my don't do.
