Got 240 miles on 05' MSC, and I get about 17.5mpg. Is that too low?

For my MINI
city mileage averages: 19-20 mpg
highway mileage averages: 30-31 mpg
I have never seen 40 mpg (at least not for a full tank).
If my mileage were only off for the city part I would chalk that up to the driver, but my highway mileage is pretty far off of yours too and there shouldn't be much lead footing playing into that.

Thanks.
Thanks.
I started tracking my mileage on a web site I saw on this forum:
http://www.myautolog.com/
It says I'm averaging about 28.4 mpg so far. Haven't had it on a long drive of all freeway driving yet but will in May when we go back to Cinci from Orlando for a daughters wedding. Will be interested in seeing what we do with nothing but freeway driving.

The computer isn't 100% accurate. Mine reads consistently about 13% higher than what I compute by hand. It's easy to figure it out manually - just zero out your trip odometer at fillup - at the next fillup divide the miles on your trip odometer by the gallons it took for the fillup - then zero it out again for the next tankfull. I keep a book in the car and record it so I can see if there's a trend. V39 dropped by fuel economy by about 10% instantly, so now I'm getting 27-28 with a mix of city and highway driving. Before v39 it was 29-30. My best tank was 33mpg almost all highway. 40mpg? From a MCS???

My wife gets usually around upper 30s on the highway, lower 30s in mixed driving. Of course, that's according to the trip computer - I'll need to check it with the odometer, but either way, it's using a LOT less gas than a Hummer!
She filled up a few days back at a truck stop on the way to Denver, cost her $24 to fill it - the guy in the Hummer at the next pump? Over $80. I think I'll get another Cooper!! Woohoo!!

I'm averaging 30.5 mpg on my '05 MCS, as indicated by the computer.
Most of that mileage is highway, as my average speed is over 40 mph on the computer. I drove like a Saint during the break in period, and somewhat conservatively now. I enjoy romping on it occaisionally, but not all the time.
My MCS seems to like the way I drive. 3,000 miles and not one single problem.
It's a hell of a car.
