Windshield Crack...
I just saw a crack in my windshield yesterday and to me knowledge never did get pounded with a rock. Weird thing is that the crack started right under the black plastic cover where the windshield meets the roof and is in the exact middle of the windshield. Has anyone heard of a windshield crack w/o a rock being the culprit? There are no signs of impact or scratching...
Any thoughts? Hoping it could be a malfunction and get a new one for free from BMW.

Not quite sure if windshield cracks fit the category "Beneath the Bonnet" - unless is was installed WAY too low. . .

Me too
Mine cracked in exactly the same way. Well almost. My cracks started at the top -and- bottom of the window. In the center as you describe. This was about 2 months after receiving my Mini last May. No rock/pebble impact is apparent. After a while, the cracks met up near the center of the window. I now have a nice crack that extends top to bottom of the window. I'm taking mine in this Wed, finally, to have it replaced. Along with some other work. We'll see what they say...
