Conversions and speed

Hello all, first time poster and I have two questions:
1. two days after I bought my MCS, (used with 7000 miles), the trip computer turned degrees to Celcius and the climate control also turned to Celcius. Why did this turn and how do I get it back?
2. I took a long trip with the car and noticed when I was doing 75 MPH, the average speed in the computer was registering only about 70 MPH. Why the descrepancy?
Thanks for the help!

With #2 it is because it is the average speed since it was last reset. So at some point you were doing 0mph, and then maybe a stop or 2. This happens alot in my truck and the dealer said it isn't for accuracy, more of a tidbit some drivers like.
#1 read the manual i know i seen it in there somewhere....

I completely understand. However, I would try and reset right on the highway when I was driving and it would say 70 when I was doing past 75. Maybe some people could try this out.

Have seen several threads about speed inaccuracy some as much as 8 to 10 MPH, others no more than 1 or 3 MPH. I fall in the 1 to 3 category. None has the definitive answer.
As for the computer, look in the manual as to change the settings. If you don't have one, go to the owners lounge at http://www.miniusa.com and download it. Rather than explain it, you can read it while sitting in your MCS and try it out.

I don't have the nav, and I agree with helmi_45 as to how to change between metric and non-metric settings. Those climate control buttons are very tricky and non-intuitive. You'll find that you can control a variety of things depending on how long you hold down the buttons for (e.g., fan speed, metric settings, etc.). You probably held the AUTO button down for too long by accident and that's what switched it over to begin with. Since you missed the "orientation" given to new buyers, you may want your dealer to walk you through the settings next time you're in for service. Good luck!

Actually, according to many people, the OBC speed is more accurate than the speedo. Speedos are not highly precise measuring devices, and are specifically engineered to err on the high side, and never lower. That being said, considering some of the other things going on in the MINI, it is entirely possible that there is something not quite right with the OBC's calculations.
