Installing ProMINI gauge cluster

Installing ProMINI gauge cluster
I bought a very low mile 2003 Cooper S a week ago and have now added a short shifter and a Scorpion stainless steel exhaust from Bavarian Autosport. I bought the ProMINI gauge cluster and began the process of installing it today, but despite many years of wrench turning, I could not figure a way to get to the oil pressure sending unit, short of removing the engine (the ProMINI instructions blew right by the "how-to" with "unsnap the cable connector and use a 27 mm deep socket to remove the sender" - it's all in the details!).
Does anybody have any ideas of how to get the oil pressire sender out with the engine in its normal position?

As my how-to thread says:
Directly underneath and a bit more towards the middle is the green plug you are looking for. The red tab slides across and then you can push the green tab to pull the top of the switch off.

Steebo, you have saved me! Your description was excellent, but the photo of how the sender looks and where it is located have made this possible for me. I also see that it would help to remove that heat shield from the header. I suspected that finding a deep 11/16th socket might be the hardest part. Thanks for the tip.
