Do a search, plenty written about it here is one thread.

Take it in...I was told that when that light is lit some of the airbags may not deploy properly.

You could always call your friendly Mini dealership, talk to a service advisor and see what they think. Good luck.

My stepmom used to have an 02 MCA that everntually did that. I don't remember what the cause was but the dealer told her that whatever was wrong with it would cause the airbag to not deploy in case of a collision. It may be a hassle to bring it that far but you definetly wanna get it checked out.

Airbag warning light
Thanks all for your comments. I have a few other issues piling up that I 'll give to the service folks to handle all at the same time (thankfully mostly small stuff). Been driving for over 37 years, well over half a million miles, flipped a couple of race cars, and seen my wife's face scraped up badly by an airbag in a slow speed collision, so I'm not a real fan of airbags anyway. If it were up to me, I'd strip the airbags out to save some weight, and install a 6 point seat belt and side supporting head restraint. I dare any airbag to outperform a cage and harness. Oops, time for my meditation (nooo, not medication)......
