Engine knocking

Engine knocking
I posted this in another forum with no response, so I'll try again....
I have a Jan 05 build MCS with the JCW engine upgrade. When I start the car, morning temps in DC are in the 50s now, I hear mild knocking from the engine. After a few minutes this goes away. Is this anything to worry about or is it normal?
Thanks!
Oban

I know this is an obvious solution...but no matter what problem I was having, and whether or not I knew how to fix it...I took my car to the dealer and made them fix it for me. Maybe thats because I was new to the whole 'warranty' thing... That would be my recommendation to you, especially if you are not familiar with the innards of a car. Also, cold start problems and the yo-yo effect have been known to be fixed by software updates, and if that applies to your problem, i'm not sure...but its best to let the dealer fix it, especially since yours is so new.
Do you put any additives like octane boost in your gas...because my father did that with his mercedes when only 91 was available and he needed 93, and it caused similar problems, and then he found out he was not supposed to put anything like that in the gas tank...the car knew it was there.

Oban, of course you should contact the dealer who installed the JCW kit and share your concerns.
This may not be a relevant story, but here’s an example of the kind of mistake that can occur when the kit is installed. Two weeks ago there was a JCW at the local dealership with a broken camshaft. The camshaft bearing cap bolts had not been properly torqued resulting in the break.
