Full ignition upgrade, any suggestion?

The MSD is good,I had one of their boxes in my '70 Camaro. The multiple spark is nice.Unfortunately, they don't make a plug-n-play box for the MINI.They do make one that will work you just have to wire it in.I have the Screamin' Demon coil from Performance Distributors and Kingsborne 9mm wires. The 9mm wires only come in blue or red so I had them put their black VividWrap on them to make them less flashy.I'm using the spark plugs that they put in the JCW cars, they are very expensive, but they are "factory" and one range colder than stock(for the pulley).

My suggestion is save your money. Upgrade the plugs if you have a pulley. I think everybody that has coil/wires "feels" something because they want to feel something after dropping the cash. I don't want to be harsh (I did these "upgrades", too) but I wish I'd saved the money for something else.

It is my understanding that the wires and coil are best suited for those of us that experience yo-yo at idle or stumble at takeoff. Those who do not have those problems, the difference is supposed to be negligible. There is not a major difference in performance as far as I know, just a more stable platform to build upon.
....of course I could be completely wrong.

ill agree with you guys on installing a part and thinking you feel the amazing power. It has alot to do with the mental notion of have an added item to the car. I will say, when i put my ignition in i felt the idle was smoother and also the rpm thru the rev range. Performance Distributors ( the makers of the Screamin demon ) state " with our coil, Live wires and the right plug , we have seen 1 sec drops in the 0-60 times". I know that with that kinda drop in times , I or anyone would def feel that which i dont. Im sure with everything else done and there system it would be more efficient in burnin the fuel with added boost.

I have the Screamin' Demon coil, the Kingsbourne wires and a set of Beru colder-range plugs to go along with my intake/pullley/exhaust mods. I put the ignition upgrade in after running the other mods for a while. Getting into the car and making a couple runs I felt... well, no real difference. I didnt expect to anyway. My feeling is that an ignition upgrade to a modern engine with only about 20something thou on the clock would not make much, if any, difference. What I did get the setup for was an overall increase in consistency over time and with the mods I had made. Colder range plugs with a pulley and today's questionable gas is a solid benefit, the wires with their helical magnetic suppression cores over the stock carbon core wires ensure a more consistent spark delivery over stock, and the coil, though not really necessary at my current mod level is more peace-of-mind and glitz factor.
My opinion? Ignition mods should only be a 'secondary' mod as a companion to other, more direct perfomance enhancing mods like pulleys, cams, etc. and not as a sole upgrade expecting a huge increase. Today's stock ignition systems are almost always more than adequate for a stock or even mildly modded engine. If you significantly increase the fuel delivery and power output of your engine, consider making some ignition changes, starting with the plugs first.
