FYI: Service Engine Light Reset
Don't know if this has yet made it into the pool of common Mini genetics, but had my service engine light come on after user induced gas cap failure (need to work on those wrist fine motor skills). Called the dealer. Tech said that this is controlled by the ECU check of the evap system, which does not occur with every startup. He suggested I give it 10 drive cycles before making the 350 mile trek to have the light reset. He was correct. Light disappeared after 9 cycles. Sorry if this post is repetitious.
By the way, hats off to Mini Peabody in Mass. Every time I have asked, they have given me direct access to a service tech, who has been courteous, forthcoming and very correct. Can't ask for more.
