Calibrating the Gas Gauge...
I do not know too much about how gas gauges are handled. I'm (slowly) calibrating my gas gauge by doing the following each time I fill up:
record gallons needed to fill tank
record position of needle to 1/16 increments
Then I plot the data with 0-1 on the x-axis, and 0-15 on the y-axis. Plotting gallons needed to fill tank vs needle position. A year from now I will have enough data to fit a curve, but would like it to take less time.
I have a:
05 July build Cooper w/cockpit chrono pack
and am wondering if there is a possibility of us sharing data (and it matching), or if my gauge is going to read slightly different than yours.
Thoughts?
Why? I want to get a grip on what kind of gas mileage I'm getting, before I fill up.
