Help - Keeps throwing P0108
Help! My car keeps dieing.
Spraying out wet black exhaust.
SES light and DSC light comes on.
OBD2 scanner shows P0108 which is Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric Pressure Circuit High Input.
Had it towed to the dealer (2) days ago and they changed out the MAP sensor and of all things the steering angle sensor.
This cleared out the fault code and SES & DSC light goes out.
The dealer put about 20 miles on it on a test drive.
I put about 25 miles driving home and it started again - sputtering, engine dies at stop lights and exhaust is spewing out a wet black exhaust like its running very rich and SES & DSC light stays on.
Man, what is going on? Vacuum leak?
Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Wiring?
check the wiring to the MAP sensor, if it's shorting or something, it will look like a sensor fault. I think the DSC may come on as it doesn't know how to control torque if needed, because it doesn't know what the engine is doing. When I scan my car with BiM COM, I get lots of steering angle sensor errors. I don't think it likes the CAN bus in the car too much, but I haven't thrown DSC errors because of it.

OK, I'll go look for chaffed or loose map sensor wires.
Dealer just called and said they had same problem with a car and they went through (4) sensors before they got a good one.
Its getting towed back in tomorrow and I'll get a loaner - regular MINI.
Oh, and the fan cuts on after the engine dies. Temp gage look OK but hand over the engine test seems very hot.
The fan has never cut on like this.
Thanks again,
kmickey

Sounds just like your problem norm.
Changing out 4 map sensors?! Wow, that's pretty rare but can happen I suppose. Good idea to check for loose or dmged connections, if you have an dvom checking the resistance might help while you move the connector a bit.
EDIT: After reading a bit, does sound like MAP sensor is faulted, or it's shorting out. DME is seeing a high voltage reading thinking it's shorted, going into failsafe and entering limp-home mode since it doesn't know how much air it's actually getting. Again this is what i think from what I've read so far, but that DSC light is tricky still have no idea.

Exact same symptoms as mine
Barnabas, I have a PM from kmicky saying they replaced all the MAP sensors, I believe there are two.
