Loose turn signal stalk

Anyone know if it's an easy fix for a loose (wobble) turn signal stalk? I took off the top cap off to the steering column, but the stalk seems to go behind some black plastic mount that some screws are holding into place behind the steering wheel.

You can investigate by removing the tach and the top section of the steering column cover which just snaps off. The turn signal assembly can be removed with one small phillips screw and disconnecting one plug. The assembly can be disassembled down to its individual parts with two small flat blade screwdrivers. These are used to gently pry and spread the plastic housings apart.

This is not a process for the faint of heart, but if you are patient and careful, you can find what the problem is without breaking anything.

I just finished this procedure with my stalk that had been broken off. I found all the plastic pieces and glued them back together with a two part epoxy, then reassembled.

So far it's ok.

I just took mine apart and noticed there was a bump and a plastic clip on top. There was a gap which was creating the wobble. I tried to stuff a cut off landline telephone clip in there but it was too big. I ended up getting a mechanical pencil (.05) and breaking it inside the clip which stopped the wiggle! Yea my high beams were going when id use the turn signal too. Im going to re assemble and see how it ends up.

It's been a long time, but I'm pretty sure there's just one screw that holds it in.
