Have plugs, about to get wires/coil pack

Right now I have Denso 1 step colder plugs, alta intake, magnaflow exhaust, alta 15% pulley... I'm about to purchase Kingsborne wires and the Pilo coilpack (let's not turn this into a debate about different brands of wires, coils, etc..) and I was wondering if I needed to gap the spark plugs further? When I put them in I just put them in straight out of the box, as per Chad's (@ Detroit Tuned) advice. Should I gap them? If so, to what?

With the Pilo coilpac I gapped my plugs to .039 and find that to run smooth.

which style gapper did you use? I tried using the coin gapper and it seemed pretty scary, I felt like I was going to snap off the tip of the plug and it wasn't moving anywhere.

Do NOT gap the denso iridiums. They have such a fine tip that you will only destroy them. They come pre-gapped!

All new plugs need to have the gaps checked. Yes even irridium plugs. You have to be very careful because of the fine wire. Plugs are not made for a specific car. One plug may fit many applications which require different gaps. Best to check for the correct gap.

Most would like to think that. I have had several brands under an optical comparitor to measure that gaps. NGK, Denso, and other brands both irridium, platinum, and plain jane plugs. Across the board there was a .002-.005 gap variance within a lot of 8 plugs. I checked over 80 plugs for this exercise. They all had a variance. For me it's worth it to verify the gap. Pre-Gapped is a falacy.

right, but then if they are not all even, and need to be gapped (Denso's in this case) What whould one do, as they probably wouldn't like to gap it and have the tip break.

You cannot hold that type of tolerance when you gap them yourself. Most plug gaps are in the .03 to .04 ranges.

There is a bunch of info here. You go not have to regap them unless you really getting into special settings on your motor with special gas and boosts. For what you have on your car, keep the same setting. But while you’re right there when the engine is cool, make sure they are tight (22 ft. lbs.).

Very easy. Use blade type feeler gauges to measure with. Start small and work up. To widen the gap gentle use of needle nose pliers works well. Again be very careful. To narrow the gap tap on the plug with the plastic handle of a screw driver. Key word is tap not hit. Gentle hands will have no problems.
