About 200 miles/week (only during weekends, 80% highway/20% in town)

Kid gloves. As in baby goat skin.

22mpg, 75% highway, Works S with 30k miles. I flog her mercilessly, and she likes it.

KIM, is your car a Convertible? There's a convertible in your gallery. The convertible would have a good bit more wind drag right? And more weight, so that shoul reduce MPG right?

6 spd
26 mpg calculated
6 day per week 4 mile commute all on secondary roads, one day highway travel of 66 miles

On vacations with mostly highway travel I have gotten 30 - 31 mpg as long as I keep the speed in the 60 - 65 mph range. I get my best mileage, 33 - 34 mpg, on fast secondary roads where you can drive 55 - 60 mph.

Fast, and I mean fast, travel on highways with two bikes on top of the car the mileage was only about 17 - 19 mpg. This is a terrible thing to find out at 11:30 PM in the remote parts of Vermont when your low fuel light comes on.

2006 MCS 6 Speed

How many miles does your MCS currently have?

3245 miles, the first 2200 were bringing it home from Ohio

Auto or 6sp

6 speed

Actual MPG (not computer)

The computer is pretty close. For the 2200 mile trip home, average was 30 mpg. Though after the break-in and around 700 miles on that trip, I started having fun on the on ramps, etc, but still kept the rev's below 5000.

For my commute, which is about 18 miles, mostly 2 lane road, 55 mph stuff, I tend to get just above 30. I'm sure I could easily get the 32 rating if I didn't have some much fun taking off from stop lights and passing people though.

Driven how in a week

I use the steering wheel, engine and breaks. I found that is usually the best way to drive a car.

hhhmmm questions...

how are you guys getting this 34 numbers?
see one thing is what your display says and another is your actual efficiency.

my display says 27.6 mpg...
i live in miami and there is traffic 24-7
now i really get about 24 at best!

here is how i do my mpg.

i run my car till it says 0 miles left on your econoy display. then i fill up which should be about 13.3 gallons or almost $40...
then i run the car as i usually drive till 0 miles left on my economy...
i usually get between 300-340 miles

now you get the average... 320 miles and device by the 13.3 gallons and you get 24.0601.....

if you guys are just lookng at the MPG display, your numbers are crap... i have had that thing say 45 miles per gallons before...
all you have to do is reset your computer... or disconnect your battery for a few seconds... then drive about a block with out using the gas pedal and you will ger 40 plus...

My numbers were calculated, not from the OBC.

With all those mods on your car, I call BS on 40mpg. Geez, a racing harness?...you better be getting under 20mpg in that sucker or you're not driving it hard enough. Live a little. I have less mods than you and only get 22mpg no matter where I drive. But I smile a lot...

YES - it is. But I would think that would play into the airflow factor. We do have alot of hills for my commute trip. And I can't say I'm the most laid back driver in the world. But 30mpg is still OK in my book.

Thanks for all of the posts - I guess I'm in the ball park at least.

27 mpg calculated totally stock
29 mpg since I did the One-Ball exhaust mod.
5 day per week 13 mile commute all highway travel at 70-80mph with city driving for lunch. By the way, there is no such thing as taking an on-ramp or cloverleaf casually in an MCS

Based on your mileage numbers, it appears there is.

I find mine to be a pig on gas for such a small micro size car, I get better fuel mileage out of my 450 hp V8 5.7L 4 cams 32 valves with 16 injectors ZR1 than I do with my 1.6L 168hp MINI and the ZR1 weighs 3560 lbs and go from 0-60 in 4.4 sec. when I fill up the MINI I wonder if there's a hole in the tank, can they actually pass emission burning this much gas in such a small displacement? I bet even my wife's Z28 gets more mpg than my MINI.

If you want to save gas, the MINI is not your best choice that's for sure but they sure are fun to drive though.

Whilst I applaud those who can wring 30+ mpg out of a MINI, there's no way I bought my 05 MCS then modded the crud out of it in the name of fuel conservation... I don't like paying 3 bucks a gallon for gas just like most people, but it's a lot cheaper than my bill for lunch most days, let alone dinner (at home or dining out.) And driving my car is a whole lot more fun than most of that other stuff.

It is surprising that most people who stop to chat about my car always ask about the petrol consumption, but I suppose that's because they think small cars should use less gasoline (common misconception.) I always emphasize the fun of driving rather than the meagre fuel efficiency.
Then I drive off in a spirited manner.

cheers,

05 6 speed S, 10,000 miles

24 to 25 actual
50% city driving
50% freeway driving at 70 to 80 mph

What concerns me is I used to get closer to 27mpg same driving conditions.
