Okay, This is getting obnoxious. For the second time now, the gauge has stopped reading. The needle flipped back to 0 and hasn't moved since. The first time, the vacuum line had come undone. I'm assuming thats the case again. The piece thats coming off is the small bit of line that I bought and connected from the "Y" Adapter to the vent on the fuel pressure regulator. What is going wrong? How can I keep it from coming off again after another high boost situation?

The instructions tell how to install the gauge kit but not how to use it.

Sorry to ask such a basic question. My mom would tell me on a day such as this I should just be grateful to have the gauges.

Sorry I don't have the part number but there are hard rubber T's available as opposed to the plastic ones. No need for other tubing to connect the line to the T. I found it at an autoparts store when shopping for a plastic T - make sth einstall easier and cleaner.

Boost on right or left of tach?

I see that many of you are putting your Boost gauge on the left side of the tach...any reason why?

I plan to install a boost and a oil pressure gauge....but i was thinking of boost on the right, pressure on the left. My main thinking was that I am already in the habit of looking to the right to get to the speedo...why not put the boost gauge on that side?

thanks!

you can put the boost gauge wherever you choose. you could put it in front of the tach if you want to. It's more aesthetically pleasing to me on the left side.

Bart- do you know perhaps what store it was you got it from? I'd like to try to fix this tomorrow afternoon if I can. I just need to narrow down my search

I only used some extra vacuum hose from an auto parts store, and it never disconnected from the FPR (fuel pressure regulator). Maybe you used a too short hose between the T and the FPR...

Or you manybe got a bit too big diameter for the vacuum hose...

I'd try a metal clamp like we use for plumbing... It would thighten the hose around the FPR for sure!

btw, I think you got a smaller diameter boost gauge than mine, which would maybe explain the different bracket???

Here is mine:

and yours:

It looks a bit smaller from the pics...

But it sure looks very nice!!! Great job!

Thanks

Yeah, they definately look different, maybe just different production models? I reconnected everything again, this time the adapter from the nylon vacuum line to the "Y" adapter came off of the Y connection...so, I used a smaller adapter and a bunch of zip-ties and some super glue...hopefully? Problem solved? haha

i think the difference is one is a 2 1/16th and one is a 2 5/8ths gauge

either that or some one had a stockload of the old style procomp ultralites.

I'll go this weekend to the store and see if I can find the piece and report back. Others have humped my leg for throwing out the rapper containing the info and they are right for I could just kick myself for doing so.

It totally changed my install. I started with the hard T and my install was a nightmare for after getting it all together, the tubing pinched at the connection point were I used soft rubber tubing to connect to the hard guage tubing. I had cut the original vaccum line about 1 inch from the original connector. That area is tight as sh*t to work in - so after losing lots of skin off my knuckles - I had to start over. THATS when I found this rubber T and it made life alot easier.

I will atleast get the brand name for you.

Actually, this time I actually deserve it. I'm just an enthustiast and don't have much of any type of technical contribution to make to this Board. I actually found something that has worked (for me), made an install alot easier, have not seen any post on this sucker and here is my big opportunity to contribute to NAM - and I blow it!

I could have gone done in history as the BahamBart NAM's soft rubber T man but instead destined to go down in obscurity.

I'm being given a second chance

Quick question regarding the boost gauge and mini warranty. I'm sure some of you guys are still under warranty so how is the dealer with stuff like a boost gauge installed. I'd hate for them to start voided stuff over something small like this. But I'd like to install one to see where I'm at.

Thanks,

-John

The gauge will not affect any warranty.

Ok thanks, although I thought they were particular on any electrical wiring in the car. Being you have to tap a power source and ground for it. Not like it's too hard to remove either, but would rather not go through the hassle.

I stopped at 3 stores yestertday and no one had the T in question. I asked the manager if they had a Vacu-tite cataloge, trying to get the part number and they said they don't have one. So I asked how do you order supplies and all 3 had blank looks on thier faces.

Oh, well.
