Well it has finally happened. My tank has started to leak. I have been battleing with my service department for months now to change the mud color coolant but they are standing tough. I had to go and get MINIUSA involved and now they are reluctantly agreeing to change the coolant. But now the tank is leaking I don't think they have a choice now. Will MINIUSA ever admit and recall the "S" for the coolant tank failure? I wonder??

I understand people have had this problem and I'm wondering how many miles you have on your MINI.

Are there any 2003 coolant tank leaks yet.
Anyone with a 2003 noticed this yet?

Well i went through 1 one my 2002 cooper at around 4000 miles. i think the one they just replaced is leaking already. I think it is time to have a custom one made out of alluminum.

I had dark coolant changed..not flushed.
Then coolant tank leaked recently and
was replaced. (02 S July 02 build)
At the Orlando meet(not at Racerock)
I checked 5 Ss and three were leaking.
I've checked two of people I have met
out driving...both leaking. I wonder if
this is happening just in hotter climate
areas? Any northeners with leaks?

My June 02 MCS is also leaking. Spoke to the dealer and they are replacing the tank. He told me it is a different part number to the original so he seems to think that will solve the problem.

Here is to wishing

I went 3154 miles, not a leak in sight (didn't use any oil either)

Mine leaked in the first 2k. Dealer replaced it with no problem (PrestigeMINI, they're great BTW). Now I'm on 7.5K, new one leaked, in a different spot, at the seam in the middle. I'm in NJ, it's been chilly here.

Im on my 4th and I live in southern NY. It has nothing to due with the climate--it has to do with shotty design work. Two pieces of plastic sealed together???
what did they think was going to happen when all the pressure and heat builds up in there??

Anyway--My dealership has been great about it and a new design is supposedly on the way.

All of the car before 1/03 will eventually devlop the leak. I've been noticing that the 1/03 production cars have a different tank, its brown in color (maybe to hide the color change?). I haven't seen any S's come in for a while so I don't know if we have the updated ones to replace the bad ones with. Soon enough this will all just be a bad memory.
