EP appearing on CVT
#1
I came home tonight and put my MC (BRG, CVT, Premium, 16" tires) in the garage. With the door down I could see the brake lights were on, although I didn't have my foot on the pedal (the key was in on but the engine was off--I was still listening to the radio). I noticed that instead of "P" my indicator showed "EP" which is helpfully described in the manual as "a malfunction in the transmission." Thanks for the help, manual. I didn't have the parking brake/emergency brake on either.
Anyone have this problem? Anyone know what the fix is?
I've been having minor examples of all the CVT problems I read here--chugging and stalling when cold (and it's cold in Indiana in February); occasional lurching at stops when I've got my foot on the brake; and twice I've had total loss of power in the pedal, killing the engine once.
I keep reading about upgrades and patches, but I was hoping to make it until my oil change to ask...at this rate it'll be July before I'm due for that (I've got 4700 miles on it).
Nonetheless, for any doubters, I'm still crazy about this car.

EP = go back to dealer ASAP -- but not too fast and not too loaded. I mean the car, not you -- you may need to start drinking heavily.
If the dealer can't find an obvious cause for your tranny troubles, suggest they check the engine wiring harness.
This was the cause of my EP. Took the dealer three trys & more than fifty (50) days in the shop to pinpoint the problem.
