External Temp Sensor Problem?

My external temperature sensor seems to not be working. It only reads -2.5 degrees C. (It is currently -20 Degrees C outside).

I had my windshield replaced with an aftermarket PPG windshield 2 days ago. Is it possible that the windshield installation might have affected something? I thought the external sensor was located on the front bumper grill though.

Thanks in advance.

The sensor is indeed down towards the bottom of the bumper. So, very little chance that a new widshield has anything to do with it.

Weird. Perhaps the timing of the windshield replacement was just a coincidence then.

Any advice on:
1 - finding the sensor? Got pics?
2 - checking/fixing the sensor?

Guess I could make a trip to the stealership also...

No pics, and I don't know exactly where the sensor is supposed to be, as mine has been just kind of dangling around ever since the front of my car got reparied after an accident.

It's a black thing, sort of needle like, 3 inches ling maybe, 1/4" diameter at the "fat" end, tapering down to almost a point. On my car, it's between the radiator and the lower mesh cover below the bumper. Easiest seen by popping the hood and looking down towards the driver's side of the car. While mine isn't quite where it's supposed to be, the wiring is short so it can't live to far from where mine is.

The temp reading usually is off for a few minutes until you drive a little bit.

There's a clip on the back of the front lower grill that the temp sensor clips into. When I did my m7 grill install, I just zip-tie'd it to the bumper. Check out the link in my sig for the M7 grill to see some pics.

Awesome! Thanks for the pics.

It looks like a small black carrot dangling in front of the car? Interesting.

And that explains what's wrong with mine... it's on the wrong side of the bumper! Mine's between the bumper (silver cross piece) and the radiator, not between the silver peice and the front of the car.

Since my bumper is currently off the car at the delearship, perhaps when they put it back together, the temp sensor will wind up in the right place. Gott look for that silver lining, right?
