LSD Oil?!!!!!!

OK, I am a little upset. My dealer changed out the flywheel and clutch in December and my LSd started making some noise so I took it in. The noise was similar to the noise produced at full wheel lock (turning) but was produced with only a slight turn. I recognized/suspected it to be a lack of the LSD additive in the oil. Low a behold after chaning the wheel bearings and tie rods they changed the oil and the noise went away. They said there was no metal shavings in the oil when changed.... but would that show the damage? What problems should i look for? Will I have problems with the LSD in the future? WE drove w/o the oil for 3 months (approx 2K Miles) how much damage was done?

No clue BUT

Make sure there's a record of the screw up in your service log. And write a letter to the dealer discussing the issue, and keep a copy. Then if you have issues in the future, you'll have some leverage.

hmmmmm... what kindof sound when you turn the wheel? mine makes a kindof "rubbing" noise when the wheel is turned half a turn either way from straight. when its cold the noise is louder. think it might be a oil problem?

Refilled the tranny, but didn't put an additive package in.

Yeah, any car with Limited slip or a Posi, you need a special additive.

Its the same oil they use in the M3's. Initial M3's had the same noise problems.

When I first got the car ther was a rubbing noise at full steering lock (normal) but it started to occur with only a slight turn of the wheel. Have you ever driven a 4x4 in 4WD? If you have a true 4X4, where you can put the transfer case in low gear and lock the differentials... do that and try to make a tight turn... that is the sound... not the wheels squeeling but the metalic rub/low pitch whirrin noise.
