Supercharger Tech. question

Would the seals of the supercharger be affected by methanol. Most Teflon based seals are unaffected. Thanks!!! -- Johan

Are you considering a methanol blend in your fuel? The MINI's fuel injectors are well downstream of the supercharger. Air is the only thing going through the supercharger. The fuel is injected right at the cylinder head's intake port. (It is actually mounted in the intake manifold, but they are right at the very ends of the runners.)

I wouldn't run it through the supercharger. I know it's done all the time on old school carburated cars, but consider the flow path.

On a dragster, the carb sits atop the supercharger. The fuel/air mixture is compressed and blows straight into the intake ports.

On the MCS, the air flows out of the supercharger and up through the intercooler, then down through the throttle body before it goes into the intake mainfold.

Any liquids trying to make all those turns and twists will definately fall out of emulsion. It'll wind up puddling in the low spots and low pressure areas.

You may need to devise a method to inject it (in a fine mist) into the intake manifold.

What do you have up your sleeve?

Yea the more I thought about it today I think your right. I think the best spot will be on the elbow leading to the intake manifold. Thanks -- Johan
