I am just finishing rebuilding an 03 coopers S that was totalled, this web site has helped with several problems and the help has been greatly appreciated. One more problem left. My mini manuel does not tell us a way to remove the air bag code. I have a friend who is a certified mechanic but not for BMW so he is not sure how to remove the code. I am hoping not to have to take it to a dealer as the nearest one is 1 hour away and I don't want to trailer it that far. Any help would be great . Please e-mail me at tgierke@juno.com. I'm afraid airbag faults must be cleared w/ the BMW/MINI diagnostic machine. At least that's the only way I know of. Are you trying to turn the SRS light off, or specifically trying to clear the faults? The light usually goes away once it doesn't see the fault unless it's something serious.

 

You didn't mention if the bags were deployed or not.
Take it to the dealer, they are your best sorce for clearing the code {the code will not clear on its own}. Why trailer to the dealer? Just don't wreck it on the way. The air bag code would be the last thing to take car of anyway.
Before you go to the dealer make sure you have taken care of any bad sensors, or other parts of the SRS system that may have been damaged.{you don't want to waste an hours drive}
