Hydraulic motor mount leak
#126
I have 61k on my car and my 2nd mount was leaking. I was just about to pull the trigger on this, but my car made an unexpected trip (on a flat bed) to the dealership when my throttle housing went bad. I mentioned my mount was leaking and they looked up that they had replaced it (27 months ago) and they replaced it again under Goodwill. I may not like the OEM one that much, but when it is free I'll take it. When this one goes, I'll look at replacing it with the TSW one.

I dont know if it's been brought up before but the repair for these mounts, are relatively simple. However if you don't want to do it your self, and are willing to drive to the Annapolis MD. area i would be more then happy to help you out. If your interested send me a message.
P.S. I don't mean to step on anyone's toes.

Would you mind explaining how the mount can be repaired? Unfortunately I am on the opposite coast so I won't be driving over to Annapolis any time soon.
Thanks!
Matt

Have an '05 Cooper S Cabrio and had my motor mount replaced under warranty about 20K ago. I'm at 52K now and it busted again. Oil all over the place this time. I just ordered a TSW mount from AutoXcooper a few minutes ago. I will not have this problem again. Not as much concerned about the money as I am about the oil stains. I keep my engine compartment extremely clean.

Just bought our 2006 Cooper S convertible with 39k miles last weekend (manufacture date: 01/06) from a So Cal Audi dealer and I noticed the leakage as well. Took it to Brecht MINI and was told "Yeah, that's the hydraulic motor mount. We see this a lot. It's common." They replaced it yesterday. All is good -- until NEXT time!

My 06 MCSC looked like a lot of the pictures I've found in the forums by people with bad motor mounts, so I took it to the dealer this morning. The SA just called telling me that there is nothing wrong with the motor mount, but my oil pan gasket was leaking and was replaced. ????? How does that thick black fluid squirt up to the frame below the motor mount from the oil pan gasket? Does this seam to defy logic to anyone else?

So I take it BMW decided NOT to make a better mount in order to make all the $ they've lost in warranty repair.

I have 85k miles on my car and have had the car all of it's life. I have been researching on-line for 2 days and some say it is a hydraulic mount then, I went to http://www.realoem.com/bmw/ and it is showing to be a rubber mount. I sure want to order the correct part, as to not have to make any returns. Can anyone help me figure this darn thing out. I sure have never had any leaks and I sure hate this. I have cleaned this thing several times a day as it is my every day ride. I hoping it does not stain as bad as some of you have had.

I am sorry, it is the mount that is on the top, it is to the left side of the motor right above the pulleys and belt. I also would like to find out what the tork lbs should be, because I have no clue and no clue on how to find out. I live over 2 hours away from the nearest mini shop and am in a small town where no one seems to know a darn thing about my car. Therefore I trust them not. I am a do-it-yourself-r and would like to do this myself if I can. I am also cheap and have always worked on my own vehicles. I plan to continue that if at all possible

Sounds like your mount is leaking. Your 06 should have the fluid filled mount. It is a thick black fliud, much thicker than oil. It is tough to get all the fluid off all of the places the fluid leaks and sprays on. I just engine degreaser and various brushes.
It is item 3 in the picture and they still call it a rubber mount but it is filled with fluid.
P/N appears to be: 22116778610
I am not sure of the torque on the bolt. You will need a external torx bit, I think size E12 but I am not sure.

Thank you for the reply. I am glad to know that I am not loosing my mind. A friend of my husbandsd told me to try and spray a little windshield washer fluid on the frame and let it sit for about 30 minutes, lightly brush and then rinse it. He said that it usually eats away at that stuff pretty good. I was going to try it last night but we were having one heck of a lightning show and I was not about to get under the hood. I may try it tonight, weather permitting and see how it works. If it works, I will post it

It's strong enough, just not the right chemical solvent........rubbing alcohol is the right stuff as mentioned above.....using the wrong chemical could actually set the stain.
Just so you all don't feel like the Lone Rangers here, other German cars use the mounts too, and they fail in those cars as well. I don't know if they fail this often, but they do fail.

The rubber mounts in my '01 New Beetle (160k) are still good. My '87 Porsche 944S (126k) oil-filled mounts haven't popped but need replacing.

Just thought I would write to tell all of you with the 2006 Mini S. I went to Carquest the other day and my guys down there did some research and found the motor mount. I only paid $77.16 tax and all for the motor mount and it looks to be almost the exact one on the car. It is a rein Automotive part # AVE0110P. Carquest's part # WPC A7000276437.

I have the same problem with my 06 with 21000 miles..that mount is filled with hydraulic fluid, its not solid..have appointment on oct 5 to get it changed..hydraulic mounts are made to take the vibration from the motor so when it idles or you rev it you wont really fill any vibration.other than that i think they suck..not heavy duty enough..i used to replace them on mercedes benz all the time with low miles when i use to work for them..well this is the 3rd time in about 9 months this car will see the dealer..not happy at all..not reliable car sorry to say..just fun..
