Jack Points

I know this may sound stupid, however I just wanted to check first before I go an break something. I have an 06 MCS and I was looking at the jack points and the actual jack point is sorrounded by a plastic shroud. I saw how the factory jack fits into it but then how can I jack up the car with a regular jack. Will it break that plastic shroud because its not actually resting on the metal point within the shroud?

Use the jack points for jack stands, and use a real floor jack to lift up each side of the car. YOu will find a cricle in the front bheind the tire and infront of the jack point, a bit close to the center though. use that to get each side up and repaet on ther side of the MINI. Take a look in preformance how-tos, the brake and a few other how-tos include photos of this and where the points are.

Hope this helps!

a regular floor jack won't break the plastic and those four plastic jack points are the only points where you should lift your Mini.

i lift mine from the side and place my jackstand on those plastic pieces.
just make sure you lift where there's a beam under the plastic strip that
runs down the side of the car.

I've jacked the car up to swap tires 20+ times in the 9 months I've owned it. I always use the plastic jack points with a lightweight floor jack that I take with me to autocrosses. Simple and easy.
