fresh air intake

Seems a few people have had critters crawl up into their a/c systems & get shreaded by the fan. So, where is the fresh air intake on a Mini?

Ya know, it would be nice to know. I dont want any animals crawling up there. I believe that it is the left cowl. (Left facing the hood.) Thats what my service advisor said.
