Clutch slave cylinder gone after 21k
Yep folks, my 05 MCS (Austin) had to be taken via flat bed truck from my home here in Fayetteville,AR to Oklahoma City to Jackie Cooper MINI for repairs. I knew that the Clutch was acting a little flabby, but then it went to the floor. So, the wife and I got ourselves stuck but managed to get him off the road and into a parking lot. We called MINI roadside service and within a few minutes I had Terry's Towing on the phone with me saying that they would have a truck out in a few hours. So, I called my father and he came by and picked us up and I went back out to the parking lot and was there for the tow truck guy to take Austin to OK City. He has been there since the 23rd of this month. I called today to check on his status and was told that they had to order the part and I should be able to pick him up this Saturday. I should mention here for those who are considering buying a MINI that is the first time that Austin has needed to be repaired. So, I guess I won't complain...

I am sorry to hear about your Austin. I hope this is covered under warranty.
I really think this is a '05 issue. Mine went out as well, but the dealership will not cover it under warranty because I had the ATE Super Blue Brake Fluid in it. (Which is absolutely absurd.) I am in the process of fighting them on this issue. I have found other cases of '05 slave cylinder failure. Too bad MINIUSA and the dealerships aren't aware of this yet.

I'm having the repairs done at Jackie Cooper MINI in OK city. I live in Fayetteville, AR and I used the road side assistance. I still do not have the car back but the work was finally finished yesterday. I talked to the service manager named Sean and he is trying to work out a deal for my MINI to be brought back here to me through a good will deal. This would be great because it's about a three hour drive and I would have to wait until this Sunday before I could drive over. It really did stink having to go through the whole Memorial day weekend without my MINI. I sure hope that he can get it sent over. It would save me a great deal of time and gas money.

WOW! It took these guys 10 days to get my car back!!!! Not only that but I read my invoice and noticed that once the cylinder was replaced they found out that it too was defective and they had to replace it again! However, even though I was out my car for over a week they did return the car to me without charging me a dime. They also told me that they didn't have the part so they had to order it. Austin is running along now again just fine. The clutch is adjusted at a little lower travel than I am used to and it's going to take me a few more trips until I get used to it, but other than that I am just happy to have him back.

have 03 MCS with 32K- many aftermarket goodies and lots of track time. just had flywheel, clutch, pressure plate,T/O bearing replaced by dealer 2 weeks ago due to t/o bearing (lots of noise when pedal depressed). Shop forman agreed to cover labor - i bought parts- thought this was very fair.
Got in car today clutch went to floor- pulled it up & drove few miles to dealer where it went to floor again. brake fluid underneath car- diagnosis by MINI is slave cylinder- car in for repair. Lucky i can walk to dealer from work-

Whenever I got my invoice for the repair it simply read "0.00" so, I don't know what it would cost. However, that price seems extremely high to me. A person can go out and buy themselves a decent used car for that. I think I would try to find a regular mechanic or local garage to do the work. I myself would have to sell the car just to pay for the repairs or mortgage my home if I ever had to pay that much for anything... I wish you the best of luck!
