fabric stuff

whats that fabric stuff on the underside of the hood for?

Hood, hood... oh you mean bonnet , thats for cancelling engine noise and providing insulation.

incase of a james bond moment and you launch your mini off a cliff you can pop the hood and rip that off and use it as a parachute....





i think its to keep heat off the hood(over a long period of heat cycels without it, theoretically(sp?) it could mess up the paint)...also it is filled with asbestos(sp?) and will drop ontop of the engine in a fire situation..

thanks. i thought asbestos was bad stuff, i was poking around in it then ate a tuna sandwich. i'm not going to die am i?

No just cancer.

Asbestos is only bad if you start to mess with it, don't tear it up and you'll be fine; but I didn't know asbestos was used , sure abou tthat one?

Well it is there for a reason, but i know many take it off to get strut braces/towers to fit better, and they don't seem to have much of an issue.

it is asbestos...it was just banned from like schools and stuff I think...but it is still used in a lot of buildings i am pretty sure...maybe someone can correct me on this...

i thought they stopped using it years ago, and just started taking it out of existing buildings. either way i took it off because i was bored
