Cleaning intake ...

I have a PROMINI intake on my 03 MC that looks like it might need some serious cleaning ...

How do I go about this and what to use to do the job?

It looks like a cotten element filter, like the K&N's. I would probably try the K&N cleaner/recharging kit. You can get it a most auto parts stores.

But if for some reason the filter is foam I would get the UNI service kit, available at most motorcyle shops.

I've got a foam filter so I can't be 100% certain.

Buy a K&N recharging kit. Auto parts stores have it. Follow the instructions and you'll be amazed at how much dirt comes out of the filter. I only had my intake filter for like 6 months and it was very very dirty when I cleaned it. It will help your performance and sound by cleaning it, do it!

K&N filter cleaning kit is the best to use. Under $15.00 at your local parts store!

thanks guys ... purchased the K&N kit ... had no idea such a thing existed ... worked great and removed a hell of a lot of dirt (over 1.5 years worth of NYC dirt) ... filter is now clean, re oiled and could actually almost see through it again.

danke!!!

not yet on mine. Alta put so much oil that the crap dripped and drained all the way down to the tranny case making a complete mess.
