HELP! Both windows are stuck!
I think the ghosts of Lucas have somehow found there way to Oxford and permeated themselves in my 2003 MCS. A few weeks ago, My passenger side window remained sealed in the up position for about a week. I would flip the switch down and I would hear a faint "click". Then the problem seemed to go away. Now, about 3 weeks later, the problem is back, but this time, BOTH windows are stuck in the up position.
Anybody out there have a similar problem? Any idea how much to fix? I put an sc pulley on by myself, so I would not be afraid to dive in if I knew what I was getting into. Appreciate any help/advice.
thanks,
Jake

thanks guys
Beating on the door above the speaker did not work–but it felt good. Holding the switch up for 20 sec or so seemed to help some of the time. It's wierd–it's like you have to wake them up. Once they are "unstuck" they are fine. I wonder if it's the motors at all–I had them replaced when my car was under warranty at about 24 thousand miles because the windows were sqeaking. Maybe it could be that little plastic gear is worn out as someone mentioned earlier.

Leaving windows cracked....
seems to be helping. Since I started doing this, I have not had any more issues with them freezing up on me. It's only been 4 days, so I'll keep my fingers crossed. It's been really hot here (in the mid 90's) today, so I think maybe the motors have been getting hot with the car sealed up? I remember someone else saying they are prone to heat. I just have to remember to put them all the way up at night.

The problem seems to lie within the motor. If you beat the door in the middle of the door panel to the closet location to the front of the vehicle while tapping the switch down, you will "kick" the motor and will work "for now". Most dealers will install a new motor. Not many,if any, come backs after this fix.

Are the windows dropping (1/2 inch) when you open the door and closing again when you close the door? If not, the glass could be binding on the rubber. If this is the case, you need to recalibrate the windows. Do this by lowering each window (when they're working) and then raising the window by holding the switch in the up position for at least 5 seconds afterit is all the way up. (I forget if this has to be done with the door open or closed, but try it both ways). Do this procedure to each window twice and the windows are reset.

Stupid me
left my windows cracked today. (I have been doing this to keep it from getting too hot in my car. I believe this has been causing the motors to get too hot and not work. Since I have been doing this for a week they have not froze up. Coincidence? Could be.) Anyway, we go to a wedding rehearsal in our other car and it's raining sideways, hail, really bad. One of the worst storms ever. I come back and of course the interior is pretty wet. Funny thing is that the windows go up with no problem. Give me roll up windows anyday!
