I just recently changed the frnt brake pads on my 03 MCS. I was having concerns with the allen head bolts that attach the caliper. I found that I could not tighten the bolts too far without rubbing-up against the back of the brake pad. I have never encountered this with other brakes.
I carefully checked the new pads and they were exactly alike!!

at least...thats the only allen head part i kno of...unless its the one that holds the rotor on? edit...thats torx

 

Thanks, thats part of the #2 assembly which was ended, hence why I didn't know what part it was. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, anything mentioned in the NAM brake change how-to, I know thats for an 02-03 Cooper?
