grabby clutch?
Hi
I've got about 22k miles on an 05 MCC.
i have a light commute, just a few miles. i warm the car up for about a minute before driving.
every few days, my clutch acts "grabby", that is, it engages much sooner than i'm used to, jerking me around. I'm very used to the way the clutch engages, so when it is different, i notice it a lot. This usually clears up several minutes into driving. I spin the clutch a bit to avoid the jerking when this occurs, this tends to make it better, but i'd rather not cause unnecessary wear.
what is odd is that this seems to happen on a day by day, basis, that is, it'll be fine for a week, then bad for both a morning and evening commute, then okay again for a bit. almost as if i'm going through good and bad layers on the clutch.
any ideas?
Along similar lines - What is the typical dealer cost for a new installed clutch? and what kind of mileage are people getting out of their NON-S clutches these days? This is my third stickshift vehicle, but the first non-japanese one, and i notice some differences. I have never worn out a clutch and don't know how much to expect from my driving style.
thanks!
Eric
